Last year, 4 students of the Delft University of Technology designed a bicycle for street vendors in Kenya. The bicycles available on the local market do not have a provision for carrying large amounts of products. The students designed a bicycle with a carrier in front. This bicycle is produced at the Cycling out of Poverty’s Cycling Blue Workshop in Kisumu. During the last couple of months, the bicycle designed by the students has been taken into production, whereby some growing pains developed. In order to offer the clients of the workshop a good product, strong and long lasting, the distribution of the COOP bike experienced some delay. By now the COOP bikes are being sold in the workshop in Kisumu.
