This programme in Ruiru is aiming to improve the socio-economic and academic position of students by providing safe and environmentally friendly access to school. Due to distances students often have to fall back on public transport which costs them € 0.50 to € 1.00 per day. In this programme they can pay back a bicycle by paying € 0.50 per day. After 8 months they are the owner of a bicycle. The remaining period in school with a bicycle they will save at least € 90 per year on public transport which allows them to pay for school books and a shool outfit.
