On November 18 the annual movie night, organised by Soroptimist Club Nijmegen, was held in the Lux Theatre in Nijmegen the Netherlands. The Soroptimist Club is a worldwide organisation of professional women, committed to human rights, particularly the rights of women and children. The proceeds of the movie night will be used to buy bicycles for Ugandan children, to enable them to reach school easier. It saves time, allowing them to do their chores at home such as fetching water. Practice shows that truancy among children with a bicycle is lower, and more importantly, more children actually finish their school. The visitors of the movie night, in a sold out crowd, saw “Made in Dagenham”. A film with humor in which the emancipation of women is paramount. Based on a true story: the strike at the Ford plant in 1968 in which 178 working women went on strike. It is not only about equality but also about sacrificing and standing up and fight for what you believe. In short a movie filled with passion, for a charity with passion, and organised by passionate women.
