At the start of this year, 60 bicycles were given out to 2 groups of farmers in Gakomeye, Rwanda. Now, almost a year later, the farmers are still using the bicycles intensively. In this area in the East of Rwanda, drought had reduced the crops, but when the rains started again, the farmers worked from early morning to late evenings. The bicycle enables them to visit all market sites surrounding the village Gakomeye frequently. As it was planned most beneficiaries have started some additional income generating activities as trade of fruits. Three farmers have delayed in making the payments for the bicycle. When this group has finished paying for the bicycles in instalments, a new group within the association can access new bicycles from the revolving funds.
