On August 11, 2011 Erik Heijn started a bicycle tour of 1200 km along the borders of the Netherlands, on his recumbent bicycle. It is the second time Erik is making a bicycle tour to raise funds for Cycling out of Poverty’s bicycle projects. He had a good start, crossing many Dutch provinces: South Holland, North Holland, Groningen and Drenthe. But after 500 km, a kink appeared in the rear of his bicycle, and it started to tear apart. It left Erik with no other option but to end the trip and return home. Erik was forced to stop cycling. However, Erik already plans to finish his tour next year, on another recumbent bicycle. With his tour Erik managed to raise 400 euros for cyclists in Africa. Thank you Erik!
