Soon we want to equip 26 palliative care providers of Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja with a bicycle, as part of our Bike4Care programme in Uganda, in which we will provide a total of 50 health volunteers and care providers with a bicycle in 2020. These healthcare providers from Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja particularly visit women with cancer and who are bedridden.

One of the caregivers says, “Most women not only experience severe pain, but also experience other difficult and demeaning cervical cancer symptoms, such as fistula, incontinence, heavy bleeding, and foul-smelling purulent wounds. These women are too poor to afford treatment and diapers and are isolated in dark rooms, ashamed and afraid of the dirty secretions and stains on their skirts, dresses and bed linen. ”
