The Pedicab is a new and sustainable expansion of public transport in African cities. It is a durable and cheaper alternative to motorised transport, like motor cycles and tuktuks. Due to its modern and sleek appearance the new pedicab is a good alternative to the simple traditional pedicab. This will appeal to the middle class as well. A group of students of the Delft University of Technology designs and develops several prototypes. The design process is an iterative process of designing, testing and redesigning. The students examine support solutions by using solar energy. The Pedicabs will be used in the Bike4Work pedi-teksi project.
