A group of young students have completed a good long bicycle tour for Cycling out of Poverty. In four weeks time they cycled from the Netherlands to Istanbul, covering more than 2,500 km. With this tour, they managed to raise almost 4,000 euros for a cycle-to-school project in Uganda. The cyclists appreciated the helpful and hospitable people they met along the road. “A woman in Bulgaria gave us fresh milk, a man gave us fresh fruit, and in Serbia we were even invited to dinner at a village festival. In Istanbul, we finally learned Turkish folk dances…” “Besides the occasional very pushy man or mosquito, a single fall and some minor bike repairs, we managed to complete the tour with virtually no problems.” Read all about their trip on their blog (in Dutch) http://voorhetgoededoelnaaristanbul.wordpress.com. Thank you all for this great achievement!
