In a number of schools in Iganga (Uganda), students can participate in a cycle2school project of Cycling out of Poverty. By now, a large number of students have received a bicycle on credit. Cycling out of Poverty started an essay writing competition among the students. They wrote about how they use the bicycle in their daily lives. 8 students won a second prize: a school bag, and 2 students won the first prize: a new bicycle. One of the students who won wrote about how the bicycle has created friendships since now they can cycle to school together. For more information about the cycle2school projects click here.
